Work
Smudge
I’ve led Smudge since 2008. It’s a design and enterprise software consultancy. Most of what we create is software for organisations where the cost of getting it wrong is measured in human terms — public sector, essential services, that kind of thing. We really care about the work that we do and who we do it for.
OnDuty Digital
I founded OnDuty to make mobile tools for frontline police. Officers are doing difficult work under real pressure, and the tools they use should be honest about that and live up to it.
Coaching
Coaching exists because people sometimes find my perspective useful in a specific, personal way — and want to work something through with me directly. One-on-one, on whatever you’re bringing. Email me if you’d like to talk.
Jasmine
A small app I made with my wife Rebecca, built around a year of her flower photography. Meant to feel more like a gift than a product — a quiet place to spend a few minutes and come out of with a bit more energy.
Double Vision
I’ve written a book called Double Vision. A year of riding mountain bikes with a friend in the middle of a breakdown he couldn’t yet name. It’s about what grace looks like when it arrives without having been earned, and what it takes to become the kind of company someone else can actually come apart around.
